Building physical theories for emergent phenomena in biological and out-of-equilibrium systems.

Our Team

We use physics and math to understand and predict robust function in living and complex matter.

Recent Projects

Topology promotes novel dynamics

Topological phases in stochastic systems protect long timescales such as the circadian rhythm, which is crucial for the survival of organisms.

New theoretical properties

Despite sharing the same topological invariant with quantum, mechanical and other systems, stochastic systems break the bulk-boundary correspondence and exist in the presence of non-reciprocity.

Permanence and utter fragility give an equal sense of eternity.”
